Solvent Weld Double Socket Coupler 110Mm - Black
Code:S1017
SKU:S1017
Overview
Solvent Weld Double Socket Coupler 110Mm - Black
The 110mm Solvent Weld Double Socket Coupler is a heavy-duty drainage fitting used to join two lengths of 110mm soil or underground pipe. Unlike push-fit versions that rely on rubber seals, the Solvent Weld system uses a chemical bonding process to fuse the pipe and fitting into a single, seamless piece.
This coupler is designed with a female socket at both ends, providing a permanent, leak-proof joint that is highly resistant to impact, ground movement, and chemical erosion. The Black finish is UV-stabilized, making it suitable for both external soil stacks and underground drainage runs.
Key Features and Specifications
Size: 110mm (Standard UK soil and underground drainage diameter).
Color: Black (UV-resistant for external use).
Material: High-impact PVC-u.
Joint Type: Double Socket Solvent Weld (requires solvent cement).
Design: Smooth internal bore to prevent debris snagging and ensure optimum flow rates.
Durability: Resistant to household chemicals, acids, and high-temperature waste discharge.
Compliance: Manufactured to comply with BS EN 1329-1 or BS EN 1401-1 standards for soil and waste systems.
Common Applications
Soil Stacks: Joining vertical lengths of 110mm black soil pipe on the exterior of a building.
Underground Drainage: Creating a permanent, vibration-proof connection in gravity-fed sewer lines.
Pipe Repairs: Connecting a new section of pipe into an existing run where a permanent, non-removable joint is required.
Commercial Waste: Ideal for high-traffic drainage systems where the security of a welded joint is preferred over push-fit.
Installation Best Practices
Cutting: Ensure the 110mm pipe is cut square and all sharp edges are removed with a file or deburring tool.
Cleaning: Both the pipe end and the internal socket of the coupler must be cleaned with a dedicated pipe cleaner to remove grease and oxidation.
Welding: Apply an even layer of solvent cement to the pipe and the socket. Push the pipe fully into the coupler and hold for 30 seconds to allow the bond to set.
Curing: Allow the joint to cure fully (typically 24 hours for full pressure testing) before backfilling underground runs.
Essential Companion Products
Adhesive: 110mm Solvent Cement (Large tin with brush).
Cleaner: PVC Pipe Cleaning Fluid.
Pipework: 110mm Solvent Weld Soil Pipe (Available in 3m or 4m lengths).
Support: 110mm Black Pipe Brackets / Bossed Clips.
Ventilation: 110mm Air Admittance Valve or Soil Terminal Cowl.
