The 20mm MDPE Copper Olive (often referred to as an "MDPE Adaptor Olive") is a specialized component used to facilitate a transition between 20mm MDPE (Medium Density Polyethylene) blue water main pipe and standard 22mm compression fittings. This allows installers to connect underground incoming water mains directly to internal brass valves or copper distribution pipework without needing a bulky plastic-to-plastic coupler.

By replacing the standard brass olive in a 22mm compression fitting with this specific MDPE version, the fitting becomes compatible with the slightly smaller outer diameter and different material properties of 20mm MDPE pipe.

[!IMPORTANT] Safety Note: When using a compression fitting on MDPE pipe, you must use a 20mm plastic or stainless steel internal pipe liner (insert). Failure to do so will result in the pipe collapsing over time, leading to a catastrophic leak.
