Compression Fittings
Compression Stopend - 12Mm
Code:C1136
SKU:C1136
Overview
Compression Stopend - 12Mm
The 12mm Compression Stopend is a mechanical fitting used to permanently or temporarily terminate a 12mm copper pipe run. Because it is a compression fitting, it can be installed without the need for heat or solder, making it ideal for use in situations where a pipe needs to be capped off quickly or where a flame would be hazardous.
Key Technical Specifications
Size: 12mm.
Type: Compression (Non-manipulative).
Material: High-quality Brass.
Components: Includes the fitting body (cap), a 12mm brass olive, and a compression nut.
Compatibility: Designed for use with R250 (half-hard) copper tube.
Common Applications
Isolation: Capping off redundant pipework during renovations or bathroom strip-outs.
System Testing: Temporarily sealing pipe ends to allow for pressure testing of a new heating or plumbing installation.
Caravans & Boats: 12mm is a common size for water systems in smaller leisure vehicles and marine applications.
Installation Best Practices
Preparation: Ensure the 12mm copper pipe is cut square using a tube cutter and that all burrs are removed from the inside and outside of the pipe.
Assembly: Slide the compression nut onto the pipe first, followed by the brass olive.
Seating: Push the pipe fully into the stopend body until it hits the internal shoulder. This is critical to ensure the olive seats correctly.
Tightening: Screw the nut onto the body by hand until tight. Use two wrenches (one to hold the body, one to turn the nut) to tighten a further 3/4 to 1 full turn.
Sealant: While not always necessary on new pipe, a small smear of jointing compound (like Boss White) on the olive can help ensure a watertight seal on older or slightly marked pipework.
