Overview

Compression Fully Recycleable

The 10mm Compression Stopend is a mechanical brass fitting designed to cap off a 10mm copper pipe. It is commonly used in central heating systems (particularly microbore systems) or for isolating small-diameter water feeds.

Because it uses a compression nut and olive, it provides a secure, watertight seal without requiring heat or solder.

Key Technical Specifications

Size: 10mm.

Material: Solid Brass.

Connection: Compression (Nut and Olive).

Application: Ideal for terminating 10mm microbore heating pipes or domestic water lines.

Standards: Designed to meet EN 1254-2 standards for mechanical joints.

Common Use Cases

Microbore Heating: Safely capping off 10mm drops during radiator removals or system balancing.

Temporary Capping: Ideal for isolating sections of a property during renovations where a flame-free solution is necessary.

Repair: Fixing leaks on 10mm pipework by cutting back to clean pipe and capping.

Installation Best Practices

Clean Cut: Use a small pipe cutter to ensure the 10mm pipe is cut perfectly square. Avoid using a hacksaw, as burrs can prevent the olive from seating correctly.

Deburr: Thoroughly deburr the pipe end. On 10mm pipe, internal burrs can significantly restrict flow if the stopend is ever replaced with a flow-through fitting.

Olive Placement: Slide the nut then the olive onto the pipe. Ensure the pipe is pushed fully into the stopend body before tightening.

Tightening Torque: 10mm fittings require less force than 15mm or 22mm. Tighten the nut by hand, then use two spanners to turn it a further 1/2 to 3/4 turn. Over-tightening can crush the thin-walled 10mm pipe.
