Overview

Compression Elbow Female C X Fi - 22Mm X 1'

The Compression Elbow Female C x FI - 22mm x 1"  is a heavy-duty brass fitting used to create a 90-degree connection between 22mm copper pipe and a 1" male threaded component. This fitting is most commonly used in unvented hot water systems, specifically for connecting secondary return lines or primary flow/return pipes to the 1" male bosses on large cylinders like the Telford Tempest or Ultraflow ranges.

Key Technical Specifications

Size: 22mm Compression x 1" BSP Female Thread (FI).

Configuration: 90-degree Elbow.

Material: Solid Brass.

Jointing: * Compression Side: Includes a 22mm brass olive and nut for a mechanical joint on copper pipe.

Threaded Side: 1" BSP female thread to screw onto male equipment or pipework.

Compatibility: Suitable for hot and cold water services and central heating systems.

Common Use Cases

Cylinder Connections: Ideal for tight-space installations where a 22mm pipe needs to turn 90 degrees immediately upon entering or leaving a 1" cylinder boss.

Plant Rooms: Connecting large-bore commercial pumps or manifolds that feature 1" male threaded outlets to 22mm distribution pipework.

Expansion Vessels: Sometimes used in the mounting of larger expansion vessels that utilize 1" connections.

Installation Best Practices

Thread Preparation: Before attaching the female thread to the male boss, apply a generous amount of PTFE tape or a high-quality thread sealant to the male thread to ensure a watertight seal.

Order of Assembly: It is usually easier to screw the elbow onto the threaded component (the "fixed" part) first, orient the elbow in the correct direction, and then insert the 22mm copper pipe.

Tightening:

Threaded side: Tighten until firm and oriented correctly.

Compression side: Tighten the 22mm nut approximately 3/4 to 1 full turn after hand-tight.

Deburring: As with all compression fittings, ensure the 22mm pipe is cut square and deburred to prevent damage to the olive or the fitting's internal seat.
