Overview
Floplast Internal Air Admittance Valve Black
The FloPlast Internal Air Admittance Valve (AAV) is a high-performance pressure-activated component engineered for use in above-ground sanitary pipework. This valve allows the free entry of air into the drainage system to equalize negative pressure and protect trap seals, while preventing the escape of foul sewer gases into the building.
Engineering & Material Specifications
- Operation Dynamics: Features a sensitive, injection-molded ABS disc and an EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) poppet seal. The valve opens under negative pressure (vacuum) to admit air and closes via gravity to create a gastight seal under neutral or positive pressure.
- Material Composition: Constructed from high-impact uPVC and ABS. These materials are selected for their thermal stability and resistance to the chemical vapours commonly found within soil stacks.
- A1 Performance Rating: Designated with an A1 rating in accordance with BS EN 12380. This classification permits the valve to be installed below the flood level of connected appliances, providing greater flexibility in architectural layout.
- Thermal Resilience: Tested and approved for operation in environmental temperatures ranging from -20°C to +60°C, eliminating the requirement for external insulation in most internal attic or cupboard installations.
- Ventilation Capacity: Designed to provide sufficient airflow to prevent induced siphonage in discharge stacks up to 45 metres or 10 storeys in height.
Technical Installation Profile
The valve must be installed in an upright, vertical position to ensure the gravity-operated seal functions correctly. It serves as a superior alternative to traditional roof-penetrating vent pipes, maintaining the integrity of the building’s thermal envelope.
