Press Fit Gas 45Deg Street Elbow - 22Mm
Code:11456
SKU:11456
Overview
Press Fit Gas 45Deg Street Elbow - 22Mm
The 22mm Press Fit Gas 45° Street Elbow is a specialized copper fitting used for the directional routing of gas pipework in domestic and commercial installations. The "Street" (or spigot) design features one female press-fit socket and one male spigot end, allowing the fitting to be inserted directly into another press-fit socket. This eliminates the need for a short "bridge" of pipe, saving space and reducing the number of joints in tight configurations.
Engineered specifically for gas safety, this fitting contains a Yellow HNBR O-ring, which is chemically resistant to natural gas and LPG. Using a press-fit system allows for a permanent, flame-free mechanical bond, making it the preferred choice for modern "no-hot-works" sites.
Key Features and Specifications
Size: 22mm (The standard size for main gas carcass runs in most UK homes).
Angle: 45° (Obtuse) – Ideal for creating smooth offsets or 90° turns (when used in pairs) with less resistance than a standard elbow.
Configuration: Street (1 x Female Socket, 1 x Male Spigot end).
Material: High-grade copper manufactured to BS EN 1254-7 standards.
Seal Technology: Features a high-visibility Yellow HNBR O-ring, specifically rated for gas and LPG systems.
Installation: Requires a professional hydraulic press tool with an M-Profile or V-Profile jaw (verify jaw compatibility with the specific fitting brand).
Performance: Provides a high-integrity, vibration-resistant joint.
Common Applications
Gas Carcass Installation: Routing 22mm gas lines through floor joists or wall cavities where soldering is difficult or high-risk.
Boiler Connections: Creating precise pipe offsets when connecting the 22mm gas supply to the boiler inlet.
Retrofit Projects: Ideal for installing new gas lines in occupied properties where the use of a blowlamp is restricted.
[!IMPORTANT] Gas Safety Notice: All gas pipework must be installed and tested by a Gas Safe Registered engineer. Press-fit gas fittings must feature the yellow O-ring to ensure they are correctly specified for gas use rather than water.
Essential Companion Products
Pipework: 22mm Copper Pipe (R250 Half-Hard)
Identification: Yellow Gas Identification Tape
Testing: Gas Leak Detector Spray
Preparation: Professional Copper Pipe Deburrer (Essential for protecting the O-ring during insertion)
