Overview

Ufh 100M X 16Mm Pert-Al-Pert Coil

The 16mm PERT-AL-PERT Coil (100m) is a premium-grade multilayer pipe designed specifically for underfloor heating (UFH) and potable water systems. It combines the benefits of plastic and metal by sandwiching a 100% oxygen-barrier aluminum core between two layers of Polyethylene of Raised Temperature resistance (PERT).

This "Al-Pert" construction is widely considered the "Gold Standard" for UFH because the aluminum layer allows the pipe to hold its shape when bent, making it significantly easier to install than standard plastic PEX pipes, which tend to "spring back."

Key Features and Specifications

Dimensions: 16mm Outside Diameter (OD) x 2.0mm Wall Thickness.

Length: 100-meter coil (ideal for a single standard UFH loop).

Construction: 5-layer multilayer pipe (PERT-Adhesive-Aluminum-Adhesive-PERT).

Oxygen Barrier: The internal aluminum layer provides a 100% permanent oxygen barrier, preventing corrosion in the boiler and manifold.

Bend Radius: Can be bent easily by hand; maintains its shape without the need for excessive clipping on turns.

Thermal Expansion: Low thermal expansion rates, similar to copper, reducing "floor noise" during warm-up.

Common Applications

Screeded Floor UFH: The most common pipe for new builds and extensions where the pipe is clipped to insulation and covered in screed.

Structural Timber Floors: Used within spreader plates for joisted floor installations.

Potable Water: Certified for use in domestic hot and cold water plumbing.

Installation Best Practices

Calibration is Essential: You must use a 16mm Calibration Tool after cutting the pipe. This re-rounds the pipe and chamfers the internal edge to ensure it doesn't damage the O-rings on your 16mm Eurocone Connectors.

Bending: For very tight turns, use a specialized external or internal bending spring to prevent kinking. If the pipe is kinked, that section must be cut out and repaired with a coupler.

Layout Spacing: * 200mm centers: Standard for well-insulated rooms.

150mm centers: Common for high-heat-loss areas like conservatories.

Pressure Testing: Always pressure test the system with water (or air if in freezing conditions) before the screed is poured.

Essential Companion Products

Connectors: Keyplumb 16mm Eurocone Adaptors.

Fixings: 60mm UFH Pipe Clips (Box of 300).

Manifolds: Stainless Steel UFH Manifold.

Specialist Support and Local Collection

A 100m coil is roughly sufficient to cover 15 to 20 square meters of floor area at standard 200mm spacing. We also stock 50m, 200m, and 500m coils for larger projects.

Visit our trade counter at 61 Fullers Road, E18 2QB for immediate collection. Our team can help you calculate the total pipe run required based on your room dimensions and heat loss requirements.
